Vizor Software to Present at the European Commission RegTech and SupTech Event

Vizor’s Chief Innovation Officer, Joanne Horgan, to speak at the European Commission’s 3rd session of the EU FinTech Lab in Brussels.

Vizor, the world leader in supervisory software for financial supervisors today announced that Vizor’s Chief Innovation Officer, Joanne Horgan, will be a featured speaker at the EU Fintech Lab on June 7, 2019 in Brussels, Belgium. This event which is focused on Regtech and Suptech is organised by the Directorate‑General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets (DG FISMA).

Building capacity and knowledge among regulators and supervisors is one of the key objectives of the Commission action plan on FinTech. As announced in the action plan, the Commission established the EU FinTech Lab to raise the level of regulatory and supervisory capacity and to share knowledge about new technologies. This event is training opportunity for regulators and supervisors, who will meet multiple technology providers to address regulatory and supervisory concerns and to explain the technologies behind the relevant products and services. The European Commission, the European Supervisory Authorities and the European Central Bank also take part in the works.

Presentation: Overview of SupTech Initiatives and Tools Used by Financial Supervisors

The presentation will look at the different approaches to data collection including data models and technical platforms. Joanne will highlight some of the new SupTech initiatives from financial supervisors including machine readable regulation, more granular data collection and the use of machine learning. She will also explore the wider regulatory reporting ecosystem and how Suptech and RegTech can be combined to reduce the burden on financial institutions.

About Joanne Horgan

Joanne Horgan has designed and delivered regulatory solutions for some of the world’s top financial regulators, working with more than 20 central banks and financial regulators worldwide. Having joined Vizor in 2003, Ms. Horgan progressed through a variety of roles and was appointed to the board of directors in 2012. Between 2013 and 2017, she took on the role of chief operating officer and now leads the product management and innovation teams in Dublin. Joanne holds a Degree in Computer Engineering from University of Limerick and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Product Management from Dublin Institute of Technology. She completed her Certificate in Financial Regulation with the National College of Ireland.
